Who is Baldy?

"Baldy the Eagle" is our official NYSP mascot who will actually appear at the program.

The Bald Eagle (also called the American Eagle) was officially declared the National Emblem of the United States by the Second Continental Congress in 1782. It was selected to serve as this important symbol by our founding fathers because it is a species unique to North America. It now represents a living symbol of American freedom, spirit and the pursuit of excellence. The image and symbolism of the majestic Bald Eagle has played a significant role in American art, folklore, music and architecture.

The Bald Eagle is the perfect mascot to honor our NYSP scholars and their overwhelming spirit of discovery.
